Abstract
Distributed computer systems have proven cost effective and are finding increasing application in real-time systems [1,2]. In this project Ada is used to develop a flexible software environment for managing a set of tasks distributed across a network of PC's. The primary goal of this environment is to facilitate the implementation of real-time process control applications. This includes the ability to reconfigure the system without shutdown.
