Abstract

This paper a) reviews the formal connection between coupled Fermi-Bose models which support soliton excitations in condensed-matter and relativistic-field theory, b) uses renormalization-group (RG) arguments to study their phase diagram at T=O°K and, c) presents a RG analysis and comparison with Monte-Carlo data of the effect of Bose quantum fluctuations on the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) model for one-dimensional electron-phonon systems like polyacetylene.
