Abstract

We present a path integral formulation of a regulated axial gauge. The Slavnov-Taylor identity is derived, Gauss' law shown to apply and the Gribov ambiguity discussed. We show how to introduce nonperturbative quarks in these gauges, and calculate the <: ψ ψ :> contributions to the quark and gluon propagators to lowest order in the coupling. Results are also given in the light-cone and Coulomb gauges for massless quarks. The gluon condensate in the axial gauge is discussed and the necessity of operator mixing is shown.
