Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Physics ((LNP,volume 61))

Abstract

In this series of lectures a review will be presented on electromagnetic and hadronic interactions at intermediate energies with the few-body systems, with the aim of establishing whether realistic conventional two-body forces and the non-relativistic many-body Schroedinger equation can account for the experimental data and the extent to which information on non conventional nuclear physics might be obtained. To this end the lectures are divided in the following Chapters:

  1. 1.

    Introduction and motivation. The Gordian knot of Nuclear Physics;

  2. 2.

    The two-body system and its interaction with electrons, photons and hadrons;

  3. 3.

    The three-body system and its electromagnetic interactions;

  4. 4.

    The four-body system and heavier nuclei; 5.Summary and conclusions.
