Abstract
Semidefects are singularities in only part of the order parameter. Methods of algebraic topology are applied to classify semidefects by homotopy groups and to relate them to defects in the complementary part of the order parameter and in the full order. Among the many possible semidefect processes those are emphasized, where a full singularity changes its type while traversing a semidefect wall.
