Abstract

Within the framework of the IGCP Major Project "Mid-Cretaceous Events" an innovative correlation scheme was established. Until now 40 – 50 stratigraphical events of different nature have been identified in the stages of the Cenomanian to the Campanian, providing correlation within NW-Germany and to England. The method and selected events, such as the primus Event (Middle Cenomanian), the long-ranged Mid-Cenomanian Event and the complex Hyphantoceras Event (Upper Turonian) were described.
