Abstract

We are now ready to establish a design method which is based on an appropriate manipulation of the primary indicators. This is based entirely on the frequency response behaviour of the open-loop system transfer function. Three design techniques, which represent three hierarchically organized design levels, will be presented. These techniques have been specifically developed with expert system implementation in mind. The characteristic and usage of each kind of sub-controller developed in the design techniques will be noted. In particular, we aim to obtain rules for putting the sub-controllers together to make up a design. The design effort can now be focused on a systematic generation of forward path sub-controllers which, when cascaded with the plant transfer matrix, will give a desired set of characteristic and principal loci.
