Abstract
Globalization movement in recent years has greatly affected the higher education policy worldwide and higher education institutions. To be a world-class university in research and learning outcomes of students becomes the key concept for universities across the nations. Japanese universities are of course in the midst of the globalization movement. Japanese universities are obliged to deal with upgrading excellence in research as well as teaching and learning in more global context. Combined with the impact of globalization and the development of the global “knowledge economy,” these competitive forces have resulted in the global competition that is currently reshaping higher education. US universities are well known as the leading position for internationalization. While many US universities are in the leading position to attract many international students, they also face many challenges for domestic campus internationalization. This chapter shows the comparative analysis of campus internationalization trends between Japan and the USA.
