Abstract
The welfare of the disabled includes livelihood security, disability prevention and rehabilitation, education, employment, recreation and sports and a barrier-free environment. The second national sample survey in 2006 shows that there were 82.96 million disabled people in China. The employment of the disabled is a severe social problem of China in the transitional period. Welfare enterprises, the main channel to recruit disabled people, play an important role in delivering welfare to the disabled. In the future, China shall implement the livelihood security system for the disabled, create more job opportunities for them, improve rehabilitation services and give priority to developing the educational cause for disabled children.
