Effect of Ge Elements of the Al-Ag-Cu Filler Metal on the 5A05 Aluminum Brazing

Abstract

Aluminum alloy has been wildly used in electronic equipment, heat exchanger, etc. The vacuum brazability of Al-Ag-Cu filler metal at 5A05 Aluminum was studied in the paper. It was found that the Al-Ag-Cu filler metal has the strongly reaction on the 5A05 Aluminum, which can easily form erosion on the parent metal. The effect of Ge elements of the Al-Ag-Cu filler metal on the 5A05 Aluminum brazing in the paper, the results show that when the Ge element is up to 10% in the brazing filler metal, Ge element can reduce the reaction of the brazing filler metal with the Mg element on the parent metal, and control the penetrability of the brazing filler metal on the parent metal. It can improve the spreadability of the Al-Ag-Cu filler metal.
