Abstract

The antenna array of the active phased array radar contains hundreds, even thousands of antenna units, and the antenna units are needed to be connected to the functional modules of the radar. Blind-mating becomes a main way for connecting at present. It is convenient for quick repairs and replaces of the modules, improving the working efficiency. This paper introduces the basic design methods of the blind-mating from the structural components and dimension precision controlling of the blind-mating. The structures used for blind-mating comprises of three functional parts, the connectors with the ability for blind-mating, guide devices, plugging and pulling out together with fixed devices, respectively. For the dimension precision, there is the dimension between the installation planes of the pair of the connectors, the dimension of the locating pin, and the stiffness of the installation planes needed to be controlled. The introduced basic design methods for blind-mating can be used as a reference for better blind-mate design of the modules in radars in the future.
