Abstract

In this chapter, more abstractions of a second messenger model are presented. The trigger effects are explicitly modeled in terms of sigmoidal transformations leading to models involving concatenations of up to three sigmoidal functions as a useful abstraction. Details of the calcium second messenger pathways are presented in terms of the three sigmoid model as well. Finally, a short discussion of how this all ties together in cellular computation is included.
