Abstract

The year 1995 marked the 50th anniversary of China’s victory over Japanese invasion in World War II. It was also the 50th anniversary of Allied Forces’ victory over Fascist forces worldwide. Therefore, one thing unique about this case in contrast with the entirely domestically based Mao’s anniversary case is that it had an international context of celebration.
