Abstract
The conclusion summarizes the findings regarding the agency of protestersʼ visual activism and defiance against hegemonic silencing, and their subversive transformation of the city into a site of history-making resistance and activism. It contends that this provides an inspirational, counter-hegemonic story of a capitalist city thriving within communist China. A story that, despite colonial and communist hegemonic efforts to characterize Hong Kong as an apolitical and purely economically oriented entity, demonstrates that Hong Kong is unequivocally a political city—and one that its dominated classes refuse to be visually (and politically) ignored, disappeared, or silenced.
