A Way Forward

Abstract

There is a positive message to be taken from the previous chapters. It is important not to overstate the applicability of theoretical and research findings. By placing them in context, their strengths and limitations can be identified. There is a large body of existing knowledge which, with care, can be usefully applied. The perspectives presented in the book suggest ways in which alternative schools of thought and various concept sand findings can be used in combination to provide nuanced insights. Additional questions can be raised and answered to further extend the value of research for real world policy and decision making. Such an approach can also facilitate cross-disciplinary interaction and a more inclusive approach for applied economics.
