Abstract

Neutral point (NP) voltage imbalance is a natural problem with three-level converters, the neutral point voltage is coordinated by zero-sequence voltage injection based on SPWM. The effect of the sixth harmonic injection on the NP voltage is analyzed based on SPWM, in this paper. The NP voltage can be controlled by superimposing sixth harmonic on the modulated wave. The total fluctuation of the NP voltage is related to the injected harmonic amplitude in one modulation wave period. When the injected harmonics are not zero, the NP voltage will shift over time. A sixth harmonic is constructed to control the NP voltage based on SPWM and a novel NP voltage control method based on sixth harmonic injection is proposed. This method is simple and easy to implement. A NP voltage control model is established in matlab to verify that the control algorithm is valid. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
