Abstract

In order to study the influence on the flow uniformity of the charge air cooler (CAC), this paper analyzes the CAC with different design parameters based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method, evaluates the influence of the chamber design parameters on the flow uniformity of the CAC, and guides the design and development of the CAC. The results show that with the increase of eccentric height H, the pressure drop and flow uniformity of the CAC increase and H = 0 has the minimum pressure drop and the highest flow uniformity; with the increase of chamber height h, the pressure drop of the CAC decreases, and the uniformity increases; with the increase of chamber width W, the pressure drop and uniformity coefficient of the CAC increase.
