Abstract
The border disputes between China and the former Soviet Union date back to the end of World War II. In 1969, at the disputed border area in Manchuria, a small island on the Ussuri River, the conflict between China and the Soviet Union escalated into military fighting, with several dozen soldiers killed or wounded.
