Abstract

The shift from isolation to openness is a necessary step for every country. Following this path brings about prosperity; deviation from it leads to decline and demise. Open-up is China’s new approach to handling its international relations. By opening itself to the rest of the world, China has transformed itself and exerted influence externally, thus changing the world.

From where we stand today, it is clear opening up boldly to the outside world was undoubtedly the right move.

Notes

  1. 1.

Some researchers conclude that FDI could play a positive role [51]. Others believe FDI has no significant effect [52]. Still others point to a negative effect [53].

  2. 2.

As Aaron Friedberg pointed out, most states have historically been concerned primarily with the capabilities and intentions of their neighbors [71].
