Abstract
This chapter explores the trends in the development of education in Ghana. It examined the process of education from the pre-colonial era, the colonial era, and the post-colonial era. The author asserted that the quality teacher education is critical for achieving educational goal. Therefore, all the levels of teacher education programs in Ghana were explored including the various reform policies that have made it a success. Also, the author examined the management of education and concludes that there is a need to decentralize the management system of education to ensure effective decisions taken and implementation and equitable allocation of resources.
