Abstract

Dolomitic limestone is a kind of limestone and widely exists in the mountainous areas of western China. When dolomitic limestone is severely weathered, rock mass structure is destroyed, joints and fissures are developed, and the whole surrounding rock is extremely fragmented. The stress release of tunnel face excavation can easily cause instability of the face, even collapse. Based on the background of a tunnel under construction in Yunnan, this paper summarizes the characteristics of tunnel surrounding rock deformation and lining stress in different construction stages by monitoring the deformation and stress during the whole construction process. By using the finite element software, the section is modeled numerically. The results show that numerical simulation and field monitoring can verify each other very well. The research results can provide reference for the design and construction of similar dolomitic limestone tunnel engineering.
