Abstract
Compared to segmentectomy or subsegmentectomy of the liver, which must be done systematically while approximating the course of blood vessels and bile ducts embedded in the nontransplant organ, right hemihepatectomy is a simpler technique where the right half of the liver is cut off along the Rex-Cantlie line. After the vessels on the right have been divided in the portal region, the only thing we need to be concerned with is handling the veins: we need to be careful when handling these small thin hepatic veins in the somewhat chunky liver. The standard operation time is 4 h.
