Abstract

In this paper, critical review on the estimation of wind load on lattice towers is undertaken using IS 875 (Part 3) through comparative study by referring ANSI/TIA-222G standard which is specially dealt for analysis of lattice tower. Further, it is concluded that the ultimate wind load is reduced by 19–22% using ANSI/TIA-222G standard compared to generalized structural wind loading standard of IS 875 (Part 3)–2015. Therefore, the specific standard for wind load assessment of lattice tower is essential for realistic and accurate estimation of wind loads through referring other national standards specially dealt for lattice towers.
