Abstract
Operating rooms dedicated for endourological procedures require a different configuration than those of a general operating room. Endourological procedures today are complex surgeries involving a variety of large and small technical appliances that have to be strategically placed in order to provide ideal and ergonomic working conditions. Furthermore, the OR needs to be fluoroscopy compatible. A well thought out OR setup not only reduces patient changeover times but it also enables optimal working conditions for the surgeon and OR staff. Moreover, it facilitates surgical training for residents and creates an environment that advances state-of-the-art medical care and education. This chapter focuses on the operating room setup for percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
