Abstract

Open vSwitch is a multilayered software switch which is used with hypervisors to combine virtual machines beyond networks and within a host. It is responsible for the implementation of switching functionality within a computer network whereas a controller is responsible for the traffic routing of the data packets. The relationship between a similar Open vSwitch and controller is analyzed in this research. Controller and switch functioning are studied to comprehend the functionality of the whole network. A virtual network is implemented using Mininet where nodes communicate with each other via a centralized controller. Further, through this research, it is aimed to enhance the network security by analyzing this communication and making this communication secure by applying SSL encryption. This approach simplifies the network and improves the data security by applying encryption on the data between the nodes.
