Analysis on the Influencing Factors of Sediment Deposition in the Intake Open Channel of Nuclear Power Plant in Estuary and Coast

Abstract

The sediment deposition in the intake open channel of nuclear power plant is concerned directly with the generating efficiency and safety of the unit, especially on muddy coast. The sediment movement has the characteristics of winnowed by wave and transported by tidal current, which makes the open channel prone to sedimentation. This paper studied the characteristics and the influencing factors of the sediment deposition in the open channel water intake project of Ningde Nuclear Power Plant through the mathematical model of tidal current and sediment. The results show that the wave loading and sediment carrying capacity of influent flow are the main causes of sediment deposition. The silt in the nearby shoal is the main source of sediment deposition and the amount of deposition is related to the initial topography and influent flow rate.
