Abstract

Brachytherapy is the earliest form of radiation treatment and still the most conformal form of treatment delivery. Knowing the dosimetric system helps the oncologist to have better perspective in treatment planning and applicator placement. This chapter will give an overview regarding the dosimetric systems in intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy, which formed the basis for the technical aspects in modern brachytherapy.
