Abstract

Permanent magnet synchronous motor has wide application in industries due to its various advantages. In this research work, the performance of the PMSM drive is boosted up with the help of particle swarm optimization technique by optimizing the coefficients of the PI controller. The same is achieved in the MATLAB environment using the optimization toolbox. ITAE criterion is implemented to control the speed of PMSM. The output torque, current and speed responses are compared with random and optimized PI coefficients.
