Narrowing the Income Gap Between Urban and Rural Residents—A Case Study of Beijing

Abstract

The main purpose of coordinating urban and rural development is to narrow the gap between urban and rural areas and achieve the integration of urban and rural development. The gap between urban and rural areas is reflected in various aspects such as household income, public services, infrastructure, social security and consumer spending. The key challenge is to narrow the income gap. This year, Beijing has thoroughly implemented the Outlook of Balanced and Sustainable Development, continuously increased its efforts in overall urban and rural development, and continuously improved its policy system of benefiting peasants and rich peasants. The proportion of investment in fixed assets by the municipal government in the suburbs has exceeded 50% for many years in a row and the integration of urban and rural areas has taken a solid stance The pace of peasants’ income growth was higher than that of urban residents for four years in a row, and the gap between urban and rural areas was initially curbed.
