Abstract

King Hussein ruled Jordan for close to five decades and steered the Hashemite Kingdom through internal and regional turbulences. He was firm when dealing with security threats but accommodative towards political and social concerns. His ability to withstand regional storms and a friendly demeanour even towards adversaries made him a tall Arab leader. Among his lasting legacies are the security, stability, and economic sustenance of Jordan despite the constant challenges that his rule faced both from within and outside.
