Abstract
What is the relationship between political culture and urbanism in West Malaysia? How do political forces work that plan, build, develop, and sustain urban settlement in the Malay Peninsula landscape? The questions lead this study to investigate aspects of formation, configuration, organization, and transformation of domains that include indigenous ordering framework and modern planning system in this former British colonialized country. The focus of this study is to explore the political history of multicultural urbanism and the practices of patrimonial culture in West Malaysian towns, cities, and regions.
