Abstract

Human mindset is central to innovations. Deeper understanding of human mind gives us better insights to harness its innovation potential and perhaps, inculcate innovative mindsets. Mind supervenes on the brain organ. Mind is formless and non-physical, whereas the brain has the physical structure. Information exchange between the mind and body sensory organs and systems is coordinated via nervous system which comprises of brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. A simplistic metaphor to illustrate this is a computer. The mind is akin to software while the physical body is akin to biological hardware with brain as its biological central processing unit, CPU. Our thoughts, feelings, inspirations, sensory inputs and environment, experiences, culture, and education elicit the mind and often re-set mind. In other words, such external as well as internal inputs influence all things an individual can do with mind. Goal of this brief article is to capture the latest scientific advances in understanding of the human mind, and thus bringing us closer to gain a better sense of an innovative mindset.
