Abstract

There are two areas in the surrounding atmosphere of the globe that affect the propagation of radio waves: the troposphere and the ionosphere (Bykov and Nikitenko in М Transport 399, 1; Shatrakov et al in М Radio and Communication 94, 2). The troposphere is the surface area of the atmosphere, spreading up to a height of 10–15 km. The troposphere is heterogeneous both in the vertical direction and along the Earth’s surface, in addition, its electrical parameters change with changing of meteorological conditions. The troposphere influences the propagation of radio waves and ensures the propagation of the so-called tropospheric waves.
