Abstract
In 907, Zhu Wen, who betrayed the peasant army, usurped the power of Tang and became the emperor of Later Liang. Since then, China came into the period of the Five Dynasties and Ten States. Five Dynasties referred to the five feudal dynasties which ruled the northern part of China. They were Later Liang, Later Tang, Later Jin, Later Han and Later Zhou. The Five Dynasties lasted 54 years in total, and all of them were ephemeral dynasties.
