Abstract

What’s in a word? Plenty. To read fluently and understand adequately, L2 readers need to know 98% of the words in a text. Thus, a good starting point for making texts readable is to choose words carefully. This chapter discusses a number of useful guidelines for increasing your reader’s word recognition.
