A Joint Image Compression–Encryption Algorithm Based on SPIHT Coding and 3D Chaotic Map

Abstract

In this paper, the author has proposed secure and fast joint image compression–encryption algorithm using discrete wavelet transform (DWT), set partitioning in hierarchical trees (SPIHT) algorithm, and 3D chaotic map. The proposed approach is divided into three phases for partial encryption, full encryption, and permutation in order to elaborate the cryptographic properties. Compression part is carried out via secure SPIHT. This inclusion of security in SPIHT has no reflex on compression properties. Intensive experiments are performed to justify and validate the proposed approach.
