Abstract

The Permian Shan 1 reservoir in the Longdong area of the Ordos Basin, China, is a typical compact sandstone reservoir with low porosity and low permeability. There are apparent multi-solutions for predicting gas-bearing properties of the compact reservoir by post-stack technique. The Shan 1 reservoir filled with gas is mainly manifested by type I AVO anomaly, in which the amplitude decreases with the increase of offset. However, this phenomenon cannot distinguish partially saturated reservoir from fully saturated one. According to forward modeling and AVO theory, we proposed a new method for attributes calculation: estimating degree of saturation of reservoir by optimizing stacking angles and utilizing difference of offset amplitude attributes. Effectiveness of the method has been verified.
