Abstract
Waste disposal is currently one of the major problems faced by our country. Dealing with waste in an unscientific manner has led to a lot of issues. Solid waste management is the perfect answer to this problem. Solid waste management is not “simply pick up the waste and go dump it somewhere”. Dumping the waste elsewhere just hides the problem for a period of time and is nowhere near to solving it. Solid waste management encompasses planning, engineering, organization, administration, financial and legal aspects. In an efficient waste management system, the process of waste segregation at source, collection, storage, transportation, treatment and safe disposal is streamlined.
