Abstract
While there is a consensus on adopting economic diversification in landlocked developing countries, there is no consensus on how to achieve economic diversification. Part 1 of this book sheds some light on this issue by analysing the impact of the Dutch disease in a developing economy context, exploring non-resource firm heterogeneity during resource boom, trade facilitation and foreign direct investment. Part 2 shows the country-based economic diversification strategies such as trade logistics operations for Mongolia, small- and medium-sized enterprises as a strategy for Lao People’s Democratic Republic, foreign aid for trade in Nepal and special economic zones in Mongolia. In brief, chapters of this book highlight the difficulties of economic diversification due to the complex nature of landlocked countries.
