Abstract

Today’s world economies depend upon human, technology and capital resources. We have been seeing since 1992 that World Economy Order is shifting towards the new and emerging economies. The changing nature of economy is the result of globalization. Globalized world induced economies towards integration, cooperation and inclusion on the base of human resources and technology and capital. Since the end of Cold War, world economies are passing through transition and transformation from traditional and labour economies into technology and knowledge economies. Higher education plays a significant role in this transformation of economy. It also plays a crucial role in the emerging and new economies. The world economies are driven by human resources and capital and technology investment. This investment and migration of human resources move together. The out-and-in flow of investment and migration are two distinguished features of the present-day’s economies. Historically, the north-east region of India has a minimal place in the country’s mainstream economy. It is mainly because of the region’s untapped natural resources, lack of infrastructure and poor geographical connectivity with the rest of country. Higher education and multi-connectivity are the two keys of this region’s overall development. Still the share of the region in the national economy is only three per cent.
