Abstract
The genesis of this book was to bring together learnings from the For-Profit world and academic research and to apply these to the challenges of the For-Purpose organisation. The two authors came from these different worlds. One from the For-Purpose world, while the other from the For-Profit world. They used different languages and had different perceptions of how the other world worked. This chapter sets out to create a nomenclature across both worlds to act as a translation tool. The organisation diagrams provide a comparison of the words used in the For-Profit world and collate these to the ones used in the For-Purpose world. There is also an explanation of the book’s title Giving Hope to show the difference between the thinking and approaches used in the two worlds.
