Abstract

Ahmed glaucoma valve (AGV)TM (New World Medical Inc., CA) is a valved glaucoma drainage device used in the surgical management of glaucoma. Implantation of the device in the pars plana region, into the vitreous cavity, is a viable management option in eyes with glaucoma which have undergone a complete pars plana vitrectomy. The procedure can help in the control of intraocular pressure (IOP) in eyes with several intractable secondary glaucomas, where conventional insertion of the drainage device into the anterior chamber may not be feasible.
