Part of the Key Concepts in Chinese Thought and Culture book series (KCCTC)

Whereas the concepts of “civilization” and “culture” have originally been created by Europeans as a mark of cultural identification and self-glorification, their getting popular in China was the result of the Chinese people’s cultural identity crisis and self-examination.
