Information Systems Design and Intelligent Applications

Abstract

Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and Business Intelligence (BI) are currently being used in municipalities in both developed and developing countries. Based on the literature review, it was found that ERP and BI bring along opportunities and challenges, which may depend on the type of city or town. From a fact finding process, it was found that the municipalities in Mauritius do not make efficient use of existing resources and through a citizen survey, citizens have put forward for many improvements in the complaint service. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to present an ERP framework, complemented with BI and Twitter Sentiment Analysis to address complaints. A brief evaluation was carried out which showed that the framework could be a possible solution for enhancing the efficiency of municipalities.
