Abstract

This paper presents the behavior analysis of Fractional order PID controller for DFIG based wind turbine system and its comparison with PID controller. The parameters of FOPID controller are optimally tuned using FPID optimization tool of MATLAB. The optimal power from the wind can be obtained by using different controllers and various control strategies, which are well studied. For this paper vector oriented control scheme is used as the control strategy, in which rotor current dq-axis component controls the active and reactive power independently. The mathematical modeling and simulation of DFIG with its rotor side converter is presented in the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The simulation results are performed for 1.5 MW DFIG system to demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed FOPID controller.
