Abstract

This work aims at showing the effectiveness of Cooperative Communication considering a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). The sensor nodes have adjustable antenna heights. Energy has been considered as a critical parameter for carrying out the comparative analysis of the Cooperative and non- Cooperative scenario (direct communication). Amplify and Forward Cooperative protocol has been implemented for which mathematical modeling has been done to find out the Expression for Energy. For comparative analysis, the expression developed from mathematical modeling, measured values of path loss from a snowy environment and path loss models have been considered. Simulation and analytical results reveal that implementation of Amplify and Forward Cooperative protocol in the WSN shows improvement in the Energy received compared to the non-Cooperative scenario. It has also been observed that Empirical Log-distance model shows a better performance compared to other path loss models considered.
