Abstract

The chapters weaved together in this book offer theoretical frameworks for communicating social change, drawing from their locations at the margins of the neoliberal order. The majority of the chapters draw from their locations outside of the Euro-US-centric mainstream of communication for social change, interrupting therefore many of the taken-for-granted assumptions that make up the fabric of the literature. Academia, as the site of the production of knowledge of social change communication, is explicitly theorized, attending to the power embodied in the role of the researcher in his/her relationship with communities at the margins of the global order. The unequal terrains of production of knowledge of communication for social change are disrupted through the presence of authors from the global margins who draw upon everyday practices of social change to theorize the role of communication.
