Abstract

As a basic background of this book, Chap. 1 introduces the change of labor policies and labor market situation in China from the planned economy system period (1949–1977) to the economic transition period (post-1978). It introduces the reasons which cause the change in labor market structure, and points out the features of labor market segmentation problems in China. The main contents of each chapter, and the features of this book are also summarized to let the readers understand this book easily and quickly.

    A joint-owned enterprise is an enterprise that is owned by the government and private or foreign owners. The government is the majority owner, and therefore the joint-owned enterprise is managed and controlled by the government and is in the public sector.
