Abstract
We present a direct comparison of a 3-in. R11410 photomultiplier tube and a S13370-3050CN (VUV4 series, 3 mm \(\times \) 3 mm) Multi-Pixel Photon Counter, both manufactured by Hamamatsu. The detectors have been tested in the wavelength range 160 nm–178 nm. The test has been performed at 173 K and in nitrogen atmosphere. The preliminary result of the experiment is reported in this work. The outcome of a more inclusive set of measurements using an upgraded cryostat system will be released in a forthcoming paper.
