Abstract
In recent years, in order to prevent global warming, further reductions in greenhouse gas emissions are required in all sectors in the world. In this study, Japanese micro vans, employed mainly for inner-city delivery, are focused. The common operation style of micro vans would include frequent accelerations and decelerations due to urban traffic circumstances and many stoppings for loading/unloading of goods. Their electrification must be effective for CO2 emission reduction. To estimate the CO2 reduction, running tests in three routes were carried out, and fuel economy field data “e-nenpi” were analyzed. As a result, it is estimated that 59% reduction of CO2 emissions is attained by electrification of all micro vans in Japan.
